Amber - MA192

Tumbled Specimen of Amber from Chiapas, Mexico.

4" x 2.5" x 2.75" / 192g

This rare piece of red amber, i.e., fossilized tree resin, was mined from the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico, where the veins running through the strata are estimated to be ca. 23-30 million years old. The colors in this translucent piece, which appears to have flora and fauna inclusions, range from blue-green to orange-red. This is a perfect piece for either a collector or lapidarist, who can make some beautiful cabochons from this tumbled specimen.
