Amber - MA405

Rough Specimen of Amber from Chiapas, Mexico.

5" x 2.75-3.5" x 2.5" / 405 grams

This rough chunk of amber, i.e., fossilized tree resin, was mined from Chiapas, in southern Mexico, where the veins running through the strata are estimated to be ca. 23-30 million years old. The colors in this translucent specimen range from blue-green to yellow orange. This hand-sized chunk is an excellent piece for either a collector or lapidarist, who can make some high-quality cabochons from this rough specimen.
