3" x .75" x 1.5" / 39 grams

This rough piece of amber, i.e., fossilized tree resin, was mined from the state of Chiapas, in southern Mexico, where the veins running through the strata are estimated to be ca. 23-30 million years old. The colors in this translucent piece range from blue-green to orange-red. This is a perfect piece for either a collector or lapidarist, who can make some beautiful cabochons from this tumbled specimen.
