Amber - MA67
Rough Specimen of Amber from Chiapas, Mexico
2.5" x 2.25" x 2" / 67 grams
This rough (egg-sized) specimen of amber, i.e., fossilized tree resin, was mined from Chiapas, in southern Mexico, where the veins running through the strata are estimated to be ca. 23-30 million years old. The colors in this translucent specimen range from blue-green to yellow-orange. This is an excellent piece for either a collector or lapidarist, who can make some high-quality cabochons from this rough specimen.
